Image To SQL Converter (CS/ITS)
CS/ITS is a graphical
application that effortlessly creates an SQL database and generates
the data extract for loading the Image data into the relational
database. Complete Image databases or individual data sets can be
selected for conversion to an SQL database. Customized SQL tables
or table entries for data summarization can be created with logic
to populate the tables or table entries.
The product reads an
Image database structure and custom table specifications and programmatically
generates the corresponding SQL database. A data set in Image is
transformed to a table in the SQL structure, and a field for a data
set in Image is translated to a column in the corresponding table
for that data set. If desired, the resulting SQL database will correspond
exactly to the structure found in the Image structure and provide
complete mapping of data. CS/ITS then programmatically generates
the extract program for extraction of the Image data for loading
the SQL database.
CS/ITS is designed to
operate in an HP3000 or networked client server environment, providing
access to relevant Image data shadowed in the SQL database. Having
the data in a relational structure allows access by users utilizing
their choice of desktop analysis and reporting products, such as
Cognos Impromptu and PowerPlay. This offers unparalleled flexibility
in the analysis and reporting of data. Summary to Detail "drill
down" analysis of your data is a key feature of these products
with extensive graphical presentation of the data for visual analysis.
Another benefit of the
product is its ability to facilitate the implementation of a data
warehouse strategy for archive data. This is accomplished by moving
historic data from the HP3000 Image-based production system to the
SQL DB on the HP3000 or network server for user access. By implementing
a strategy to offload the Image data to an SQL repository, CS/ITS
effectively frees the production environment of the overhead associated
with analysis and reporting. It also offers remote PC-based analysis
on a laptop for the traveling executive.
